SA: Hamilton-Smith elected state Liberal leader
South Australia's Liberal party has its third leader within 13 months .. after former
army major MARTIN HAMILTON-SMITH was elected leader today.
Mr HAMILTON-SMITH ousted IAIN EVANS by a 13-10 vote .. in the Liberal caucus room.
Mr EVANS took over the leadership of the SA Liberals .. following the 2006 election loss.
Mr HAMILTON-SMITH .. who was elected to parliament in 1997 .. previously challenged
for the leadership against ROB KERIN in 2005 .. but withdrew when he couldn't gain sufficient
support.
