NSW: Watchdog recommends planning fee changes
SYDNEY, Feb 10 AAP - People buying or selling a property in New South Wales could save $60
under changes recommended by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) today.
IPART recommended a flat $40 fee for the planning certificates usually exchanged when a
property changed hands - currently only standard certificates cost $40 while advanced
certificates with additional information cost $100.
However IPART also recommended local council's increase their charges for building
certificates from $50 to $70, and said a standard $10 fee should be charged for registering
development applications.
The proposals will now be considered by state Planning Minister Craig Knowles.
