TROY - Chilly weather kept attendance to a season low at Bruno Stadium on Friday night and the hot bats of the Tri-City ValleyCats couldn't warm up enough to get the win.

The 'Cats lost 7-6 to the State College Spikes in front of 2,295 fans in a thrilling game that marked the team's 12th defeat in its past 16 games.

It looked as if the ValleyCats were headed toward their fourth shutout loss in the past five games until a big eighth-inning rally in which they surpassed their total offensive production from their four-game road trip.
